Begin with a costly decision or task
Strong AI features reduce the time, friction, or expertise required for a real user task. If the only requirement is to add AI, the product problem is not defined yet.
Design for uncertainty
Model output is probabilistic. A production workflow needs grounded context, structured responses, confidence boundaries, clear failure states, and human review where the consequence demands it.
Measure usefulness
Track whether the feature improves completion, accuracy, response time, or another product outcome. Token usage alone does not tell you whether the experience is valuable.
